Ayeshma Dewmini De Silva

Ayeshma Dewmini De Silva is a dedicated and compassionate BSc (Hons) Psychology graduate with a deep passion for special needs education, child development, and therapeutic interventions .Her strong academic background combined with hands-on experience has shaped her into a caring and skilled professional committed to supporting children’s growth and emotional well-being.

Dewmini successfully completed her internship at the Institute of Cognitive Enhancement (Steiner College), where she worked closely with a supervising psychologist and directly supported six children with diverse special needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) During her training, she actively participated in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Physical Education sessions demonstrating excellent teamwork, empathy, and adaptability.

She also took initiative in creating and implementing therapeutic and educational tools such as a Sensory Board,a Treasure Hunt activity,and ,Art Therapy sessions,all designed to enhance children’s emotional regulation, sensory integration, creativity, and social engagement.These experiences deepened her understanding of child-centered therapeutic practices and the importance of individualized learning approaches.

Beyond her professional training, Dewmini is also an active volunteer.She contributed to community-based programs through Merak – The Tree House International,where she supported Autism Awareness Day events and participated in activities promoting inclusion, acceptance, and educationabout developmental differences.

With a strong foundation in psychological principles a nurturing personality, and a commitment to lifelong learning, Dewmini aspires to further develop her expertise in child and special needs psychology.Her long-term goal is to make a meaningful impact in the field of educational and developmental psychology empowering children with diverse abilities to reach their fullest potential.
